PORT HARCOURT – The Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB) has officially commissioned a state-of-the-art Model Primary School, marking a major milestone in the state government's ongoing initiative to revamp basic education infrastructure.

The modern facility, equipped with smart classrooms, computer laboratories, solar-powered electricity, and modern sanitation facilities, was unveiled during a ceremony attended by top government officials, education stakeholders, and community leaders.

RSUBEB Chairman, Dr. Smith Oshi, described the project as a "game-changer" for basic education in the state. "This model school represents our commitment to providing world-class learning environments for our children. We are setting a new standard that will be replicated across all local government areas," he said.

The school features a total of 18 classrooms, a fully equipped science laboratory, a library with digital resources, and recreational facilities. The construction employed local artisans and materials, contributing to the economic development of the community.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who was represented at the event, reiterated his administration's dedication to transforming the education sector. "Education remains the cornerstone of our development agenda. We will continue to invest in infrastructure that empowers our children to compete globally," he stated.

Parents and community members expressed their gratitude for the project, noting that it would significantly reduce the distance their children travel to access quality education.

RSUBEB has announced plans to commission similar model schools in other parts of the state within the next 12 months.
